Target Rationale
Fresh fruits and vegetables are an important component of a healthy diet. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) only 15% of school-age children eat the recommended servings of vegetables and less than 33% eat the recommended servings of fruits each day. By partnering with school nutrition professionals through Farm to School activities, Washington produce growers can be part of the solution in ensuring Washington stat children have access to more fresh fruits and vegetables in their dairy diets.
